和コーポレーション非常勤取締役の小野です。和コーポレーションは、長岡駅から南へ 5 キロメートル程度、車で 15 分程度進んだ位置に有り、まわりには電機精密工場や、金属加工業等の工場が点在している地域に位置しています。
関越自動車道、長岡インターチェンジからも 15 分程度の立地であり、鉄道、自動車両面で非常にアクセスが良い立地となっています。
長岡といえば、8 月 2 日、3 日に開催される日本三大花火大会の一つでもある長岡まつり大
花火大会です。和コーポレーションの社員もこの日を楽しみにしています。
また、司馬遼太郎の「峠」の舞台となったことで、多くの観光客が長岡城址や河井継之助記
念館を訪れていると聞いています。
学術的にもロボット分野など製造装置の要となる領域のエンジニアの育成が盛んな地域で
もあります。全国で愛知県豊橋市と新潟県長岡市の 2 か所しかない技術科学大学があり、
和コーポレーションでも大学の教授との交流をもち、卒業生も会社で活躍しています。
知られざるトリビアとしては、長岡周辺は、日本では有数の天然ガス産出地であり、そのた
めにかねてよりプラント設備や採掘設備のための機械工業が発達しているという説もあり
ます。

I am Ono, a part-time director at Yamato Corporation. Yamato Corporation is located about 5 kilometers south of Nagaoka Station, a 15-minute drive, in an area surrounded by electrical precision factories and metal processing industries.
It is conveniently located approximately 15 minutes from the Kanetsu Expressway, “Nagaoka Interchange”, making it easily accessible by both train and car.
Speaking of Nagaoka, it is home to the “Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks”, one of Japan’s three major fireworks festivals, held on August 2nd and 3rd. WAC Corporation’s employees are also looking forward to this day.
Additionally, Nagaoka is known as the setting for Shiba Ryotaro’s novel “Tōge” (The Pass), attracting many tourists who visit Nagaoka Castle and the “Kawakami Keinosuke Memorial Hall”.
Academically, it is also a region thriving in the cultivation of engineers, especially in fields related to robotics and manufacturing equipment. There are only two technical science universities in the country, located in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, and Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture. Yamato Corporation maintains interactions with professors from these universities, and our alumni are actively contributing to the company.
As a lesser-known trivia, the Nagaoka area is one of Japan’s leading natural gas-producing regions, which has contributed to the development of machinery industries for plant facilities and mining equipment.
